Run Report by: Hobbit

A run site close to Pattaya but no limit to the scope and creativity available to and expected from this week’s stand in Hare
With Loy Krathong celebrations imminent the pack were anticipating some swims, so after welcoming a Jungle Hash Virgin and assorted visitors, Grand Master G.I. Joe asked our Hare, Lord Lucan, to point the way.
Anything goes, Lord Lucan stated, just follow the blue paper courtesy of Interhash, get back to the beer also courtesy of Interhash and don’t accuse me of buying my peerage. “I’m an honest politician”, he pleaded unconvincingly.
The pack were immediately onto a good trail with numerous twists and turns and an early check quickly solved by Festering Streaker pleased with himself for smelling the right direction. Not so smart really, since this meant he led the pack through elephant grass of record breaking height and was trembling at the thought of encountering a few creepy crawlies. Really Sadistic Bastard who normally disappears amongst such cover was also a pioneer through this section staying close to our Hash Horn for the day, Ballringer.
Eventually out onto track, the first false trail to the left, real trail to the right and a good downhill section to another falsie alongside a true dustbowl of a track. With the Grand Master and sidekick Dizzy fooled once again and with Lynx leading the pack it’s a case of “Head down – Arse out” and on to the next check. Yet another false trail which, and as it turned out, was laid too close to the in-trail and with calls from two directions all the pack, except six stalwarts, became the largest bunch of short cutters in recent Jungle Hash history.
Festering Streaker directed by this scribe, again came to the rescue, finding the correct trail, smugly declaring he knew the right direction all the time. This trail followed pleasant tree lined track, missed by the majority who by this time had long gone in the wake of the straying Lynx. Another check and FT found Roger the Sick Prick leading the Magnificent Six through more stunning scenery and eventually the first and only shiggy of the day protected by a fierce looking water buffalo and her calf.
After making a suitable offering to the Buffalo and gingerly negotiating a detour, Roger the Sick Prick then led what remained of the pack through further regions of outstanding natural beauty, to eventually link up with a check which the short cutters had long since solved.
Overall the first runners were back in around one hour five minutes and so the verdict was an excellent run in good country despite being close to what some might describe as civilisation (Pattaya?)
There followed an excellent circle with the usual sinners and suspects, the highlights of which were a rendition of “Loy Krathong” by the Thai ladies and a magnificent fireworks display to make U Tapo airport concerned and to celebrate Bonfire Night!
