Well seeing my sister is here from England I thought it would be rude to miss a run out this weekend. Looking at all three A-sites and the hares for each this may involve recovering in bed Tue./Wed. Are we whimps, No!!! lets get on and do it.
Part one goes OK and we wake up Sunday morning feeling not too bad for todays adventure, we pick Cabbage Head up and arrive at the A-site with our two visitors and receive a nice warm welcome, however there is just a little apprehension as we get that (For what we are about to receive feeling) looking at them thare hills and knowing what may lie before us.
It's a nice A-site boys but, the red ants are not too shy at giving us some grand love bites. We receive what we did'nt want to hear from the hares that it is a medium to long run, and don't forget to take water with you, sounds like you have been listening to too many political speaches as we now know it's a long run and you can't pull the wool over our eyes.
The run starts up that track and turn left, and its On On and away we go. All previous worries are now gone as we wend our way along to the first check, I go straight on Cabbage head goes right, Greyhound is to my left. Mrs Head follows me, we hear On On to our right so back we go as tail end Charlies now.
We get to the next check and most people are checking!! what a refreshing change. I somehow get into the long tangly stuff, just for a minute I thought it was cowboys and indians as Apache pops up in there as well. On On called and back we go.
We now start the real stuff onward and upwards, I get this next check right a clever loop and on a road, downhill to a walkway and back into rough and uphill, bugger me everybody else went straight on, another loop that caught us out but gets everybody back together. Up the road we go and just as I hear FT from Karamba I and two or three others see Paper in the rough to our right. This is now the first real climb of the day, over the top we go and most of the Pack are there. Mudcracker keeps us right to the next check, its this point I feel will it be clockwise or anticlockwise.
I felt the force pull me left and down the road I went, bingo On On and away we go again after a while of steady runing down the track its on to a check and the water stop. Time to analyise the run so far and get our breath back.
We start to check it out and Cabbage Patch gets On, looks like its up and over again. Its single file now as we go over and down again, we were here a few weeks ago, will we go over the top again? There are a lot of hashers here now and all are checking, Beverly Hills is hard at work but Mudcracker finds paper down a track and away they go. Surely thats the wrong way Karamba wasn't convinced, FT called and back they come. Yes Karamba was right and up we go again as he finds paper.
We come across Lord Lucan who also thinks it's up and over the big one, another clever check in a dip on the track has us all over for a while. On is called by Mudcracker I think, not up the big one but right over a slightly smaller hill, as I join Karamba in yet another snake uphill,he said he checked this trail but went 10mtr. too short, some you win some you lose. Jackal is in front of the snake with Greyhound in hot pursuit.
This next check is a committment job as the trail to the left is a steep downhill and it will be hard work coming back if it is wrong. Cabbage Head and I decide to get committed and of we go, thank goodness after a while we hear a faint On On, Mudcracker had committed as well.
Another check and who do we see way to our left, M' Lord beckoning us on, did you go over the big one!!!! well we are on again. The Quarry!!! some things are best forgotten, Capt. Kirk must have got it right as we past him soon after. The Norwegen part of our trio need Fjiords to navigate as he nearly overshot the Track to the A-site, don't worry son the Brits will keep you right.
Back at the A-site Greyhound was waiting for us, already getting tucked into the snacks. Little sister was the first lady back, well done Pickled Cabbage not so far behind the FRBs and coming in with Meme and other good company.
I walked it off back down the road. Many mutterings about a quarry and mountain goats were heard, BB it seems wanted to shake the hares by the throat, well done Robbing Bastard on your first jungle and everybody else that came trotting back on this good mix of a run, all got back eventually!! A fine Barbecue was had, thanks to all involved, and the circle!! well if you want to know about the circle come and join us next time!!!
