200th Run Celebration - (see footnote also)
As we rock up on a special A-site for the big 200th Jungle Run Celebration, I realise it doesn’t seem that long ago that we did run #1, I still remember it well, that 8 years has gone by so quickly. I think about 8 of us today, including myself, were present for the 1st run.
A nice pack of hashers were all ready waiting for the hares, Spaghetti Head and Sheik Bin Shaggin to explain the run, it came down to a choice of a walking trail or a running trail, runners first on the bus for the trip to the start, which seemed like about 15km trip out.
Off the bus and we headed out into the Jungle. I took it easy and took care of my virgin, pretty easy run I thought, not many hills and only a bit of shiggy.
I was noticing a few short cutters going through an FT only for them to join the trail again 300mts further down the track. We eventually caught up with the walkers who had been dropped off half way through the run, getting back to the resort A-site in around 50 minutes for some amber refreshments and a dip in the swimming pool.
After a nice buffet dinner, circle was called and declared a good run, but I personally thought there had been a little bit of crop abuse, nicely done, all the same hares.
To find out what happens in a Jungle circle you will need to attend yourself.

Footnote:
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO CONTRIBUTED.
Exceptional, outstanding, excellent, brilliant, incomparable, and above all a very special Jungle Day made possible by the hard work and diligence from the present mismanagement and especially the hares Spaghetti Head and Sheik Bin Shaggin.
To be able to effortlessly transport, feed and entertain such a large number of hashers is testament in itself to all the hard work that went into making this day such a worthy one. Certainly, the choice of venue was an inspired one and we must extend a big vote of thanks to Lubricunt (Nick) for allowing us to use it.
Even the gods smiled and we had unbridled sunshine throughout. This made both the swimming pool and the large shady tented area especially erected for the day very attractive to many.
Our new Jungle sponsor “The Walker Foot Clinic” by all accounts did very brisk business during the afternoon from our rag tag bunch of members.
The rags boys excelled themselves and produced a noteworthy 200th Run Shirt in many different colors to suit both Hashers and Harriett’s. This shirt was included as part of the goodie bag given to all those who attended.
Finally, all the hashers were treated to a scrumptious alfresco meal courtesy of P.J Restaurant which I’m sure everyone enjoyed immensely.
ON ON to Run #300 which should take place in July 2014 if all goes to plan
